Create a Picture password on Windows 8

The picture password facility of windows 8 seems to be inspired by the pattern locking feature in Android. Windows 8 allows you to draw a series of three gestures where each gesture is a circle,straight line, or a tap.
We can create a picture password from the same user management screen in the PC Settings. Then Click on the 'Create picture password' button.

You will asked to enter your existing password.


 
Then, Windows 8 shows a sample of how to draw a line or a circle while giving an option the picture for set as password. Click on the 'choose the picture' button and select a picture.



After choosing the picture, drag and reposition the picture.Then draw the gestures on the picture,twice.


Once conformed,the gestures are saved and along with the picture itself from the 'picture password'

  1. Press the Windows key to open the Start screen or switch to the Desktop.
  2. Press the Windows key + D will open the Windows Desktop.

Here iam sharing somae of the basic knowledge for using windows 8 properly.

 

Lock Screen


When we start Windows 8,it will go to a lock screen, which is very beautiful with nice image.But, we cant understand what will do next.
So Just tap the space bar, spin the mouse wheel or swipe upwards on a touch screen to go to a regular login screen with the user name you created during installation. Enter your password to continue.This lock screen devoloped mainly for touch screen users.


Using Start Screen 

 


Windows 8 have a  new interface,which is very different than other versions. The start menu is given as tiles.To use this start menu, if you're using a tablet then  just swipe left or right to scroll the screen, and tap any tile of interest.On a PC, though, you might alternatively spin the mouse wheel to scroll backwards and forwards.And you can also use the keyboard. Press the Home or End keys to jump from one end of your Start screen to the other, for instance, then use the cursor keys to select a particular tile, tapping Enter to select it. Press the Windows key to return to the Start screen; right-click (or swipe down on).

Find all applications

 

The Win+X menu is useful, but not look like old start menu.So we can't find the softwares in your PC in the new start menu..To find this, hold down the Windows key and press Q or either right-click an empty part of the Start screen or swipe your finger up from the bottom of the screen and select 'All Apps' to reveal a scrolling list of all your installed applications. Browse the various tiles to find what you need and click the relevant app to launch it.


Shutting down



To shutdown your Windows 8 PC, just move the mouse cursor to the bottom right corner of the screen, click the Settings icon - or just hold down the Windows key and press I - and you'll see a power button. Click this and choose 'Shut Down' or 'Restart'.Some of the tricks available in previous versions of Windows still apply. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del, for instance, click the power button in the bottom right-hand corner and you'll be presented with the same 'Shut Down' and 'Restart' options.And if you're on the desktop, press Alt+F4 and you'll be able to choose 'Shut Down', 'Restart', 'Sign Out' or 'Switch User' options.

If you use Windows8 now, You can feel the absence of the old start menu , we use in other windows Operating System.The new start window is stylish and good looking.But the old start menu is usefull for run applications speedly and easy navigation. Did you not like the new start menu,You can backup the old start menu using a software named Power8.

Install Windows8 on your PC

Microsoft is launching their new operating system Windows 8 on October 26.There is available a release preview version on market now.First we want to know, How to Install Windows 8 on your Computer.This is the post to learn this.
First, you want know is your computer is compatible with the system requirments of Windows 8.


System Requerments
  • 1 GHz 32-bit or  64 bit  Proccesser.
  • 20 GB Hard Disk Space
  • 1GB RAM (2GB For 64 Bit OS)
  • DirectX 9 Support

Next decide , which OS you want , 32 or 64 Bit. If you have a computer with 3 GB Ram and Suitable proccesser , 64 Bit is most good.
First download Windows 8 and copy the image file to CD/USB Drive compatible for Booting.Then insert the disk to CD Tray. There will appear a message  'PRESS ANY KEY TO BOOT FROM CD/DVD'.Press any key to countinue.
If it didn't came go to BIOS Setting by pressing F2/Del key while computer is starting.Then change Primary Boot Devise to CD-ROM.










If you done correctly the screen will change to the picture shown below.
Some time later there appear a window like this.
Select your Language, Time and keyboard layout here and click on Next
Click ON 'Install now' here.Next step is give the Product Key .
If you have Product Key type this and click on Next. (If you didnt have,also press Next) 
Accept the license terms by check the box and click 'Next'
Select  Custom: Install Windows only (Advanced) in this window
In this window, Select the drive, which you want to install windows 8. If you have a partition click on the drive and click 'Next'. If you want to make new partition click on 'Drive options (advanced).
Give  20 GB Disk space on making new partition. . After giving size press ‘Apply’ 
Press OK on this dialogue box.
Here click on the drive we maked and press Next.Your Installation is being.
Your computer will Restart automatically.After this  appear a window shown below.
Give your Name and select your colour on the Next Window

In this window you can see the current settings of your computer. If you wish to change this press on 'Customize'
Here , they ask you to on/off file sharing.Select your Choice.
In this window you can set Windows update and Privacy Options.Do like this on the next window also.
In thiswindow they ask you to Login with your microsoft account.If you didn't wish to do this click on 'Sign in with out a Microsoft Account'.If you wish it type your Email address and Password and click Next.
In this step they ask your phone number and alternate email for your computers security. (If you forget or lose your password Microsoft inform you by this phone number or Alternative email.)
After this , You can see the window shown blow.
After some time , you can see the start button shown below.









To go to your Desktop click on the 'Desktop' icon. 








Your windows is ready to use.....Enjoy....!
